<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>People generally spend more time planning their wedding days than any other day. Some girls even start &#8220;planning&#8221; their weddings from their elementary school days, gathering magazine clippings, photographs, and other items to keep in wedding scrapbooks in preparation for their big day. Although weddings tend to be a time to pour out on the couple and the guests – through elaborate ceremonies, spectacular cakes, stunning flowers, delectable food, and piles of presents – in our increasingly environmentally conscious world, couples are beginning to consider more conservative and earth friendly approaches to their weddings.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.greatgreenwedding.com/" target="_blank">GreatGreenWedding.com</a>, a Web site devoted to helping people achieve their goal of having environmentally responsible weddings, points out that your wedding day is &#8220;your day to show the ones you love your passion for the environment,&#8221; and lists the following tips on its home page:</p>
<p>-	Minimize the amount of driving your guests will need to do.<br />
-	Donate leftover food rather than throwing it out.<br />
-	Don&#8217;t register for things you don&#8217;t need: give your guests the option of giving donations in your name instead.</p>
<p>While the second two points will need to be taken care of by other experts, Limo Livery is here to help with the first item – minimizing the amount of driving your guests will need to do. Our wedding package provides the bride and groom with unparalleled, worry-free, professional service that will uplift the transportation needs of the couple into part of their magical day. </p>
<p>But don&#8217;t stop with limousine services for the bridal party and family alone. Using Limo Livery to transport guests from one wedding venue, such as a church, to another, such as a restaurant, not only provides an extra air of festivity for guests, but also drastically cuts down on the amount of cars on the road, and their emissions. Choose from our exceptional <a href="http://www.limolivery.com/fleet.html">fleet</a> of town cars, limos, vans, and buses to shuttle guests in comfort and style, all along knowing that you are doing your part to preserve the planet.</p>

As members of the <a href="http://www.leapcars.com/">Limousine Environmental Action Partnership</a>, or LEAP, we have a demonstrated an acted-upon commitment to green business practices which ensure you of a <a href="http://www.limolivery.com/ride-green.html">greener ride</a>, every time. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There&#8217;s no question that New Orleans knows how to party, and everyone knows that its year-round revelry climaxes in the biggest party of the year – Mardi Gras. Whether your favorite part of all the merrymaking is watching the extravagant parades and catching beads, donning costumes that rival Halloween&#8217;s, or simply delighting in a piece of King&#8217;s Cake before chasing it with a hurricane, celebrate this year by traveling in style. Mardi Gras is the time for indulgence – in fun, food, and festivities, and there&#8217;s no better or safer way to enjoy the celebration than with Limo Livery. </p>
<p>Historically, Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, was the last day for indulgence before the giving up a pleasure for the forty days of Lent. The custom, originally a sedate French Catholic tradition, debuted in North America when the Le Moyne brothers were sent by King Louis XIV of France to defend <i>Louisiane</i>. In 1723, the tradition became rooted in the Big Easy, and <em>les bon temps</em> have rolled since, anything but sedate. The vibrant carousing is perhaps New Orleans&#8217;s most famous and popular event. </p>
<p>Packed with fantastical parades put on by krewes, resplendent masquerade balls, rousing music, unrestrained dancing, and the Bayou&#8217;s finest cuisine, Mardi Gras in New Orleans is a feast for the entire soul. Inhabitants and tourists who make the most of their &#8220;week of indulgence&#8221; won&#8217;t want to waste time sleeping – or driving!</p>
<p>Whether you are a visitor getting picked up from the airport to stay at your hotel in the French Quarter, or a local who doesn&#8217;t want to be the designated driver watching all your friends having fun, allow Limo Livery to help you get the party started. With our fleet of cars, SUVs, vans, buses, and specialty vehicles, we&#8217;ll make sure you get from one party to the next comfortably and safely and without wasting time getting lost or looking for parking. Make travel time party time!</p>
<p> If it&#8217;s your first time in our wonderful city, check out our tours, which take you on a marvelous journey through New Orleans&#8217;s rich history, music, culture, food, architecture, and sights. Explore Mardi Gras with our exclusive packages, perfect for any and all. And best of all, ride guilt-free, knowing that not only are you being a responsible party go-er, but you are also being a responsible citizen of Mother Earth by supporting a ground-transportation company dedicated to environmental sustainability. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Though prom season doesn&#8217;t officially begin until spring time, it&#8217;s never too early to consider how you will keep your children safe during this special, yet potentially dangerous – even deadly – time. </p>
<p>Disturbing as it is to consider, car accidents resulting in teenage deaths are highest during prom season, according to a <a href="http://www.seattlecaraccidentlawyerblog.com/2009/06/teenage_drivers_and_prom_seaso.html" target="_blank">Seattle car accident lawyer blog</a>. In 2005, 6,100 teens were killed in car accidents; of these, one third involved alcohol. </p>
<p>We all know the dire consequences of drinking and driving, and it can never be overstated not to do it!! But teenagers and alcohol are an especially bad mix for a few reasons: alcohol is teenagers&#8217; drug of choice, teens especially tend to over-drink because of the fact that alcohol is not usually readily available to them, teens&#8217; judgment is often severely impaired due not only to inebriation but also to peer pressure and youth&#8217;s sense of invincibility. What&#8217;s particularly frightening is that the more a teenager drinks, the more he loses his inhibition – and the more likely he is to drive a car under the influence. </p>
<p>No matter how much it&#8217;s instilled into them not to, some teens are going to drink on their prom night. In fact, Alcohol Awareness Month is held in April because spring is prom season. In the 2005 prom season alone, 676 children under the age of 21 were killed in alcohol-related traffic accidents during prom and graduation season (April, May, and June). The problem is so widespread that some schools have even instituted the use of breathalyzers to test blood alcohol content at the door, turning away those who have been drinking.</p>
<p>One thing that parents can do to augment the safety advice they&#8217;ve been pouring into their children is to make certain that they will not be in a situation in which they drink and drive or, equally dangerous, in which they ride in the car of someone who is under the influence. Using our chauffeured services to provide transportation for your children and their friends not only keeps them safe, but also lends an even more &#8220;magical&#8221; aspect to this momentous occasion in their young lives; it&#8217;s a safety precaution they are sure not to roll their eyes at and will even thank you for. </p>
<p>Decide now not to worry about what car your child is in on prom night. Choose a limousine from our distinctive <a href="http://limolivery.com/fleet.html">fleet</a> of vehicles and allow our staff to safely transport your teen and his or her friends to dinner, the prom itself, and after-prom activities. Encouraging other parents to do the same could very likely save some precious lives this prom season. </p>
<p>For more information on underage drinking, visit the <a href="http://www.sadd.org/" target="_blank">Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)</a> Web site. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As with most things, Christmas has two sides: the open, warm, giving side, and the massive scramble of consumption – both literally and figuratively. But as the lines get longer and the last-minute shopping reaches a feverish pitch, through it all, we catch glimpses of the kindness, love, and generosity that make the season so dear to all our hearts: the little boy dropping coins in the Salvation Army’s red bucket, the reunion of family members separated by thousands of miles, the toys collected for those less fortunate, and the unity displayed by the voices of strangers joined in familiar songs. </p>
<p>With the way Americans’ financial lives have been touched these last few years, more and more of us seem to see beyond the haze of giving and getting to touch the heart of what’s most important – the people and places that make us feel loved, feel special, and feel at home. </p>
<p>And this awareness extends to our planet as well. Increasingly, a green mindset and culture is spreading into our everyday – and our yearly – routines, activities, and traditions. Discussions of what types of Christmas trees are most green and tutorials for handmade gifts using recycled materials are rampant on the Internet, testifying to the extent that Americans are becoming committed to a more environmentally responsible lifestyle.</p>
<p>We at Limo Livery are proud to have joined the ranks of the earth friendly, especially during this festive time of year. As we pick up beloved family members from the airport and take them to their waiting relatives in comfort and relaxation or as we bring a group of old friends around town for a night of wining and dining, we’re proud to know that our impact on the environment is being balanced by carbon offsetting, greenhouse gas reduction strategies, and our growing hybrid fleet. </p>
<p>At every level, we aim to minimize our impact on the environment by implementing the most up-to-date environmental strategies in both our business model and our services. Ultimately, this reflects not only our concern for the planet we inhabit, bur also our commitment to honoring our customers’ desire to live environmentally responsible lives.<br />
This Christmas, take care of Mother Earth, the home of us all, by patronizing companies and organizations that do the same. Merry Christmas from all of us here at Limo Livery. We look forward to another year of serving you. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Bowl">Sugar Bowl</a> is a 75-year-old New Orleans tradition enjoyed by locals and visitors – who travel from all over the country. The Sugar Bowl is an American college football bowl game, the second oldest bowl game in the country, along with the Orange Bowl and the Sun Bowl. (The Rose Bowl is the country’s oldest bowl game.)</p>
<p>Colonel James M. Thomson, who published the <em>New Orleans Item</em>, and the paper’s Sports Editor, Fred Digby, first suggested the idea of a New Year’s Day football game in 1927. By 1935, they gained enough support to hold the first Sugar Bowl game. </p>
<p>The game was hosted by Tulane Stadium from its inception through 1975. Subsequently, the <a href="<a href="http://www.superdome.com/" target="_blank">Louisiana Superdome</a> took over. Every game since has been played there, with the exception of the 2006 Sugar Bowl; because of the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, the game was held at the Atlanta Dome that year. </p>
<p>The next Sugar Bowl game will be held on January 1, 2010 and will feature the Cincinnati Bearcats vs. the Florida Gators. </p>
<p>For many, the Sugar Bowl is a personal tradition, a time to enjoy one of America’s favorite sporting events with friends and family. Since its founding, Limousine Livery has been helping football fans from all over the country enjoy the Sugar Bowl in the height of style. Make an event of the day by engaging our Special Events services to take you and your guests to all your Sugar Bowl festivities. Enjoy time together without having to worry about getting lost, parking, or all those other practical details. Let us take care of them for you and have fun!!</p>
<p>In addition to the game itself, don’t miss the Sugar Bowl Parade, which this year will be held at 11:30 AM, beginning at Pat O’Brien’s. From there, it will go on from the corner of St. Peter and Royal streets, uptown on Royal Street to Iberville, lakebound on Iberville to Bourbon, downtown on Bourbon to Bienville, and then lakebound on Bienville to the front of Arnaud&#8217;s Restaurant for its finish. </p>
<p>If you’re able to begin your Sugar Bowl visit earlier in the month of December, you’ll be able to enjoy Christmas New Orleans Style, which we talked about in our last post. And we can’t think of a better place to celebrate New Year’s than New Orleans! And remember, through all your winter galas and events, Limousine Livery is there to support your plans with the utmost in style, service, and convenience. </p>

<p>With friends and family in town to taste all that New Orleans has to offer (both food-wise and otherwise), you’ll need to fill their days with activities. Point them to the New Orleans Museum of Art, where world-famous photography and art collections, including paintings by Degas and Fabrege eggs, will give guests a good dose of culture. History buffs will enjoy The Historic New Orleans Collection in the French Quarter. Or, for a more hands-on experience of New Orleans culture, head over to Jackson Square to watch artists at work right before your eyes.</p>

<p>When guests have had their fill of culture, don’t forget about the shopping! The French Quarter in the heart of New Orleans offers some of the best holiday shopping in the country. Take a break with beignets and coffee and saunter through the art galleries sprinkled amongst the streets in this charming and historical neighborhood.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This year, why not reduce global warming and improve air quality by lowering your auto emissions at the same time that you lower your family’s stress level? Skip the stressful holiday travel and celebrate an eco-friendly holiday at home.</p>
<p>According to <a href="http://use-less-stuff.com/ULSDAY/42ways.html">Use Less Stuff</a>, if each family reduced holiday gasoline consumption by 1 gallon (about 20 miles), we would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1 million tons. If you find that you can stay at home this year, great!</p>
<p>If you must go over the river and through the woods, there are still ways to make your travel a little bit greener. If you drive, use less fuel and lower your emissions by making sure your car is in good working order, tuned up to handle winter weather and your tires are properly inflated.  How about renting a hybrid for a long trip instead of putting the miles on your own car?</p>
<p>If, like the <a href="http://www.12days.com/library/carols/12daysofxmas.htm">Two Turtle Doves</a> your travel will involve flying, you’re trip will make a fairly significant to the greenhouse effect.  Instead of giving up air travel, opt for airlines with young fleets – Continental and Jet Blue, for example – the newer aircraft in these fleets have improved fuel efficiency and the companies both have a strong environmental commitment.  Continental Airlines, and others, also have tools for you to neutralize that impact of your flights by buying carbon offsets.  While offsets aren’t the solution to global warming, they can be part of the solution.  If your airline doesn’t provide you with a calculator when you make reservations, use a <a href="http://carbonfund.org/site/pages/individuals/individual_business_carbon_offsets">carbon calculator</a> to estimate what you impact will be and offset your trip emissions this way.</p>
<p>And, if you are just “getting out of town” for the holidays, one of the easiest things you can do to make a vacation greener is to choose a hotel that’s committed to minimizing its own environmental footprint – a task made even easier by the fact that, in addition to all the eco-resorts, most hotel chains and independent properties are hard at work developing green strategies.  Take a look at <a href="http://www.responsibletravel.com/" target="new">ResponsibleTravel.com</a> for an easily searchable database of eco-aware hotels and resorts around the world, or <a href="http://www.environmentallyfriendlyhotels.com/" target="new">Environmentally Friendly Hotels</a> which rates hotels on a scale of 1 to 7 for eco-friendly commitment.</p>
<p>In January 2010, we will be launching a ground transportation calculator on our site so that you will be able to offset your trip to/from the airport – both at home and at your destination.  Keep an eye out in the new year!</p>
