Drew “Brees”es into the Saints Lineup…

The big news in New Orleans last week was the contract agreement between the New Orleans Saints and its star quarterback Drew Brees for $100 million. Although it’s still July, fans of the New Orleans Saints are already preparing for the upcoming NFL season and the first preseason home game is less than a month away.

The long awaited signing of Brees gives the former Super Bowl MVP a five-year contract, in addition to the distinction of having the highest annual salary ($20 million) in the history of the NFL. And the Saints quarterback absolutely deserves the honor since he set three NFL single season records last season for highest completion percentage, most completions and most yards passing with 5,476 yards, which broke Dan Marino’s passing yardage mark of 5,084 yards set in 1984. Brees also led the Saints in having the most total yards in the NFL, in addition to the conference semifinals, where they were beaten by the slimmest of margins in the closing minutes of the playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

Earlier this month, Brees was honored with the ESPY Award for Best Record Breaking Performance by demolishing Marino’s long-standing passing yardage record that stood for nearly 30 years. In his acceptance speech at the sports awards show in Los Angeles, the Saints quarterback thanked the fans, his wife and kids, the WhoDat Nation, Dan Marino and the other quarterbacks who set the standard in the past. He also wanted to thank some of his teammates who he said is part of this award, but did not thank Sean Payton, the Saints head coach who has been suspended for the entire upcoming season as a result of the controversial “bounty scandal” discovered by the NFL.

Fans of the New Orleans Saints will have a close eye on the team, particularly with the season long suspension of their Super Bowl winning head coach and lesser suspensions to a number of their defensive players and coaches. Still the NFL-leading Saints offense, with Brees at the helm, will remain an undeniable force to be reckoned with and a Super Bowl contender.

Still the Saints, their fans and the City of New Orleans did not need the negative press it received during the offseason. Nevertheless, expectations are high once again this season as the Saints try to repeat as the winner of the NFC South division and possibly a return trip to the NFL championship game.

If the Saints do make it to the Super Bowl, they will automatically have the edge because the 2013 Super Bowl will be held at their home field at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and held right in between the two weekends of Mardi Gras 2013!

For limo service or group ground transportation to any of the New Orleans Saints upcoming home games, Limo Livery will be there to provide the best that the city can offer. In fact the limo drivers are probably New Orleans Saints fans themselves!
