2) Cochon – Owner/chef Stephen Stryjewski won the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for South Chef and the Executive Chef is Donald Link who also serves as the CEO. The restaurant is located in the Warehouse District and well known for its excellent American/Cajun food. Cochon also has a store that sells house cured meats and sausages, wines and beers.

3) Commander’s Palace – One of the most popular restaurants in New Orleans as well as one of the best in the country is Commander’s Palace, located in the upscale Garden District. The restaurant is renown for its Louisiana and Creole cuisine and has the distinction of having two celebrity chefs as former employees: Paul Prudhomme and Emeril Lagasse. The current chef, Tory McPhail is a celebrity himself and has his own television show, “Off the Menu” and has worked the famous kitchen for the last 10 years.

4) Emeril’s New Orleans – No top list of restaurants in New Orleans would be complete without including at least one restaurant owned by celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse. This restaurant is also located in the Warehouse District, close to both the Riverwalk Marketplace and the Ernest Morial Convention Center. It is consistently ranked by both the local and national media as one of the great restaurants in New Orleans.

5) Restaurant August – This restaurant was selected as one of the 2012 Top 40 Restaurants in the US by Gayot.com and the only from New Orleans to receive the distinction. It is located in the Central Business District, also just minutes from the New Orleans World Trade Center, the Riverwalk Marketplace and the Ernes Morial Convention Center. The restaurant is well known of its modern French cuisine and its award-winning chef is John Besh.
